Tips for importing journal entries into QuickBooks Desktop
If you are using QuickBooks Desktop to manage your finances, you can import journal entries as soon as they are created. This means that you don't have to wait for a specific time interval to have them recorded in QuickBooks.
Open the journal entry that you want to import into QuickBooks and follow these simple steps:
- Click the "File" tab on the QuickBooks Desktop window and select "Import/Export."
- Select "Journal Entries" from the list of options on the left side of the screen and click "Next."
- In the "Journal Entries Import Wizard" that opens, click on the button next to "From Another Program or File." This will open a file selection dialog box.
- Navigate to and select the journal entry that you want to import into QuickBooks Desktop from your computer.
- Click on the button and choose to save this journal entry with its original filename extension (.journal).
- NOTE: The name of your imported journal entry will be something like ABC123456_01.journal (where ABC123456 is replaced with your actual journal entry number). You can also change this name by selecting it in the drop-down menu next to "Name." ClickonOKto finishes importing this journal entry into QuickBooks Desktop.
If you're like most business owners, you keep track of your expenses and income in a journal or other document. You might also use QuickBooks to track your financial progress over time. Unfortunately, if you want to import journal entries into QuickBooks, you have to do it one entry at a time. This can be tedious and time-consuming. Fortunately, there's an easier way to do it: by importing all of your journal entries at once using the QuickBooks Import Journal feature.
